Vice President Mike Pence recently took a trip to Montana and then tweeted about it. However, Pence attributed an unusual quote to former President Ronald Reagan about a man and his horse. What followed was many people on social media being left confused about what Pence meant by the quote. Pence was in Montana to rally support for Greg Gianforte, the Republican candidate vying for the Treasure State’s only seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Pence wrote, “Outstanding afternoon,” then quoted President Ronald Reagan in a speech he made in 1987 to citizens in North Platte, Neb., that is, “I’ve often said there’s nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse.” Accompanying the message was an image of the former Indiana governor posing with some sort of steed.

The suggestiveness of the Reagan quote prompted Twitter users to take off for the finish line to see who could come up with the best response. Here are some reactions on social media to Pence’s quote. What did you think the vice president meant by his tweet? Let us know in the comments section.

On May 25, Montanans will head to the polls and decide between Gianforte, Democrat Rob Quist and Libertarian Mark Wicks. The state’s congressional seat has been empty since Zinke resigned from the U.S. House earlier this year to join the Trump administration. Pence said, “With your help, with your support, President Trump and I are confident that Montana will make the right choice on May the 25th when we send Greg Gianforte to Washington, D.C.”
