This Sexist Job Listing Actually Appeared On LinkedIn

Attention, working women: The 1950s are back — at least in the description of one LinkedIn job listing

The post, advertising an opening for a Content Writer & SEO Specialist for custom web design company Vistra Inet, listed skills one might imagine would be required for such a position: “Writing talent,” “Computer knowledge,” “Knowledge of social media,” “Superior organizational abilities,” “Ability to work independently and in coordination with a team,” etc.

But at the bottom of the post, there was one curious sentence: “Please note that the Position requires filling in the responsibilities of a receptionist, so female candidates are preferred.” (See a screenshot of the post, which has since been removed, below, as tweeted by Business Insider’s Caroline Moss.)

For some silly reason we assumed skills had no gender, and that in 2015 companies would realize that! Guess it was just wishful thinking.

Perhaps Vistra Inet needs a reminder that both men and women can be receptionists — or doctors or therapists or lawyers or hair stylists or anything else.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Vistra Inet for comment.
