Former “Today” anchor Billy Bush is likely to get a $10 million lump settlement from NBC after his abrupt ouster following the vulgar revelations on the Donald Trump tape. A pretty good deal considering most other people would not get that type of deal for similar actions.
The former Access Hollywood host, who left NBC this week, is in the final stages of securing a multi-million dollar settlement with the network, Bush’s lawyer said. Bush left NBC after a tape was released showing him make lewd comments alongside Donald Trump in 2005.
Bush’s attorney Marshall Grossman told Page Six on Friday, “Negotiations between Billy and NBC are progressing, and will continue to progress, and hopefully we will reach a conclusion in the near future. We were preparing for battle, but today we are preparing for settlement.”
Here are some reactions from social media.

I never really could get past Billy Bush’s cringeworthy Oscar moment with @YoItsKeisha. Revealed a lot about his character. https://t.co/nnKqqdaXJt

If Billy Bush gets a $10M settlement for being FIRED, how come the 99% don"t get commensurate firing bonuses? @nbc

Negotiations with Bush were said to have been amicable, but they hit a snag because his team felt NBC News was pinning blame for the Trump incident on Bush, who, at the time of the 2005 Access segment, was an NBCUniversal employee interviewing an NBC star (The Apprentice’s Trump) to promote Trump’s appearance on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives. The impasse led Grossman to go public yesterday with a statement to THR: “If Billy had been passive or responded ‘Shut the f— up’ to Trump, Billy would have been out of a job the next day.”
Bush issued an apology: “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed,” Bush said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago – I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”
What do you think of Bush’s alleged settlement terms? Should Bush have been fired? Sound off below in the comments section.
