During the first week of October, the 11th annual New York Comic Con will be invading Manhattan. That means four days of comics, cosplay and pop-cultural chaos at the Javits Convention Center (October 6-9). Including, of course, previews, highlights and reflections from the world of animation. So with the show’s full program now released, let’s take a day-by-day look at some of the most interesting and exciting animation-related events at NYCC 2016.
Thursday, October 6
25 Years of Captain Planet & The Planeteers (12:15 PM – 1:15 PM, Room 1A06)

Crunchyroll Industry Panel: Anime, Manga and So Much More (1:45 PM – 2:45 PM, Room 1A10)
If you are a fan of anime, manga, and everything coming out of Japan right now you, this is a panel for you. Crunchyroll, your source of all things anime and manga, will be talking about their streaming service and all the hottest titles streaming currently.
Gamification Of The Classroom: Taking Classroom Fun To The Next Level With Gaming (2:45 PM – 3:45 PM, Room 1B03)
Admittedly, this panel doesn’t explicitly fit within the animation ecosystem. But given the focus we’ve perviously paid to animation + gamification (like this post: Leveraging Animated Video for E-Learning), we wanted to at least highlight the listening. In this panel, teachers and industry professionals will offer valuable advice on how to not only design gamified units and lessons but also the tools on how to effectively implement them in a classroom environment.
The Future of Comics in New Realities (3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Room 1A10)
Creative minds from comics, entertainment, and technology join this discussion on the future of comics in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality.
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, Main Stage 1-D)
NYCC will screen the world premiere of the highly-anticipated Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. And on hand will be none other than… Adam West!
Archer: Screening Q&A (6:45 PM – 7:45 PM, Hammerstein Ballroom – 311 W 34th St)
Fresh off winning its first Emmy Award, FX’s animated spy comedy Archer will have a special screening along with key members of the show.
Friday, October 7
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Rise of the Super Shredder (2:45 PM – 3:45 PM, Hammerstein Ballroom – 311 W 34th St)
Executive Producer Ciro Nieli shares an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the epic adventures and new characters awaiting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
